Text Box: Portrait of Sir Peter Jonas, Intendant of the Bavarian State Theatre

Text Box: After 13 years as Intendant at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Sir Peter Jonas retired following a sparkling performance of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg by Wagner.   The event was also marked by the unveiling of the painting by Charlotte commissioned by the Friends of the Theatre and due to be displayed in the theatre gallery.  Sadly, tradition dictates that the painting should only be hung upon the passing of Sir Peter and the painting will be stored until that day.

Text Box: Commissioned by her film director husband, Eric Abraham, the portrait of Dr Sigrid Rausing sees her in relaxed pose in her home in Scotland.  A publisher, anthropologist and philanthropist, Dr Rausing is known for her charitable work, especially in the area of human rights and women’s rights.  She founded the Sigrid Rausing Trust in 1995 which gives away about £10m a year to human rights organisations, women's groups, social and economic regeneration agencies and environmental causes.
