Welcome to my first newsletter of 2009...

In this newsletter I am pleased to include my two latest commissioned portraits, those of Frank Brake and Logan Ellison.  I would also like to make you aware of a new section on my website, entitled News and Views.  I will be talking about my latest work and ideas, and inviting viewers to read and respond.  In this section I will also announce any forthcoming exhibitions and other news.

Latest commissions

Portrait of Frank Brake

 

Frank Brake is a local businessman who despite having now retired, continues to have a busy and energetic lifestyle.  In this portrait I wanted to reflect Frank’s dynamic character and strength of personality.  His love of tennis is reflected in the courts visible from the window and the landscape is a view from his Kent home.

 

 

Portrait of Logan Ellison

 

This portrait of 4 year old Logan Ellison was
commissioned by his parents who wanted to capture him at this fleeting age in his childhood.  It was
important for me in this painting to get a sense of Logan's inquisitive and unaffected view of the world.  I wanted Logan's individual personality to come through in the painting, but also to give a wider sense of childhood, its innocence and enthusiasm.
